do you happen to know of any tumblrs that do what you do, but for other... types(?) of people? i'm struggling to find an active LGBT writing guide blog specifically at the moment but it'd be nice to have a masterlist of any blog of this variety, since tumblr's search is remissfully unhelpful..! tysm
Hi lovely asker!
So there used to be a whole lot of blogs that were labeled "Scriptx" blogs and of course others too. Good thing is a lot of them were archived! So while they're not open for new questions you can still use the search and use the information provided to other asks they answered. So I'm gonna tag the other active blogs or the ones that are just on hiatus and then I'm gonna link all the archived ones!
Active:

I briefly scrolled through a few of these that I personally wasn't aware of but I can't vet and scroll through each and every individual blog in its entirety because well it would take a very very long time. Also of the active blogs some don't have their ask box open and/or some are on small hiatus'. Please be respectful of that, pretty please, everyone puts in a lot of time and effort and yeah.

Do you know of any writing blogs that specialize in giving advice on writing about mental disorders and answering questions about how to write said topic? I tried Googling, and while it might be a skill issue on my part, I haven't found what I'm looking for.
I don't know of any blogs like that, unfortunately. The best you'll probably be able to do is visit the old ScriptX mental health blog. It hasn't been active in a few years, but you can read back through old posts to see if any of your questions are answered.

We've actually had a version of this on Tumblr for awhile, though I don't think many of them are active anymore: the ScriptX family. I've used some of those blogs as quick general reference and also links to other resources.
if you’re white and wanna write a poc character and feel awkward about it i implore you to ignore any twitblr stuff treating it as a massive ethical burden and instead come in more with the same mindset you’d have if you wanted to write about idk firefighters but didn’t know anything about firefighters so you do... research. Like fuck off with the weird kinda creepy calls for spiritual introspection you’re not writing about god damn space aliens you’re writing about humans and if you think you need more perspective of different life experiences just read?

How does one CREATE an official script blog? I haven’t noticed one for people who are trying to write witches/pagans/polytheists, and as a writer who IS one, I get a lot of questions about it in terms of writing. Plus I really look up to you all in terms of helping other writers (as myself, I have countlessly relied on all of the Scripty fam). Thanks so much!
So, first: thanks for the compliment! Hopefully @scriptmedic and the others see this and know you appreciate them this much <3Second - I can answer both halves of this, actually - with two links:
1.) @scriptwitchcraft is an Official ScriptFam blog you may want to check out :)
2.) https://scriptmedic.tumblr.com/soyouwanna - Aunt Scripty’s official “So You Wanna Start [An Official] ScriptX Blog” page :) Should answer all of your questions in that regard - including the emotional labor you can expect if you ever did join or start a ScriptX blog. Hope this helps, Anon! :)

Not a medical question but is there a master list of all the ScriptX blogs? I'm looking specifically for one on church/religion/theology but I'd love to follow others too.
I don't have a current active list, but I do know that it's a small teeny tiny handful.

Do you have any books that you recommend to help improve writing? Either how-to books or books that are just so well-written that they can teach by example?
Oh good question! Despite what y’all might think, I don’t actually read that much 😅I typically get my writing advice through random tumblr posts and some websites. I’ve vouched for these resources before and I’ll vouch for these again:
Springhole - Lots of really fantastic general writing tips! Highly recommend it if you’re trying to find your voice.
ScriptX - Directory of tumblr blogs dedicated to more specific writing advice like medical and legal questions for when you want your writing to feel more realistic
Writing With Color - Advice on how to ethically and realistically write characters of color!
As for writing style, honestly it’s a matter of personal preference and also the voice you want to portray. Off the top of my head, The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennet uses a very conversational, storyteller tone that compliments how the characters themselves speak and reinforce that even the narrator is unreliable. On the other hand, “good” writing doesn’t have to stand out. Think of one of your favorite books. What about the plot did you enjoy, and how did the author use word choice, cadence, and syntax to set the mood bring that plot to life? Chances are, it’s the little details that do it. Caraval by Stephanie Garber, for example, uses color words to describe sound throughout the book. This is a great example of a character trait (in this case, the main character has synesthesia) being implied through the meta narration and is a great way to help put your reader in the POV character’s shoes.
Anyways, if anyone else has examples (and book recs for me to add to my growing to-read pile), please share!

Dear Neurodivergent Community, Do You Want To Run A Blog With Me?
As I writer, I’ve found the scriptx family on here to be very useful, but I noticed they don’t have a blog for how to write neurodivergent characters
I reached out to them and they sent me a form to fill out to join the family, but I can’t run a blog like that alone
I am looking for other neurodivergent people who know their neurodivergency well, not only from their own experience, but research as well
Here is a link to what being part of the scriptx family entails, please check it out
Message me if you are interested
If you aren’t interested or feel you aren’t prepared to run a blog like this, but still want to help, please reblog this and help get the word out there
Thank you!

@scriptlgbt has some great tips for this
I’ve heard the trope of “trans character is outed against their will to reveal that they’re trans” is a trope done to death, so how would one go about a trans man coming out to his boyfriend? (they knew each other pre-transition but he moved away when they were like twelve and he changed his look and name by the time he moved back)
#i feel like any time i give writing advice its directing to a scriptx blog#but theyre great#also ace/aro/nb friendly

Writing Advice; a resource list
Hey! Recently I’ve noticed an uptick in outsourced writing advice on Tumblr, whether this is just on my feed or not, I thought I would put up a good list of writing advice and reference blogs on Tumblr.
https://scriptautistic.tumblr.com/post/169184357621/the-scriptx-family-as-of-01012018
A complete list of the current Script Family. All well moderated, with in-depth, informed advice, with over 20 members on a variety of subjects.
https://scriptmedic.tumblr.com/thescriptxfamily
Previously complete list of the script family, however! This also includes a list of the friends of the Script Family, all excellent writing advice blogs. Including, @howtofightwrite and, @writingwithcolor
There’s also a rather lacking number of resources for writing fanfiction, which is a genre all it’s own. While normal writing reference blogs and advice do great, sometimes fanfiction comes with it’s own special brand of issues.
https://writingtipsff.tumblr.com/
A blog dedicated to the reblogging of all the advice they can get their hands on, usually pertaining and in reference to fanfiction.
https://lets-get-fictional.tumblr.com/
A great mix of writing, editing, and characterization advice. Usually focusing specifically on fanfiction, but not always!
https://randomfanficwritingtips.tumblr.com/
Primarily an ask blog, great resource for reference, and any specific questions you may have.
I hope this helpful, good luck in your endeavors!
P.S. any additional writing advice blog suggestions are welcome!

are the "script(profession)" blogs still a thing? i kind of want to start one as a flight instructor, to tackle all the misconceptions about aviation/air travel in fiction, but i do know that they're somewhat exclusive and have an application process before they're cool with you using the name.
unfortunately, it seems like a lot of them have gone dormant/archived.
ScriptX Blogs
It's really difficult to say whether or not ScriptX is still a thing. The original ScriptX blog was @scriptmedic, aka Aunt Scripty, but there have only been a few posts since last summer. There is a post about how to start a ScriptX blog (you can read that post here: https://scriptmedic.tumblr.com/soyouwanna ) and if you don't have any luck contacting Aunt Scripty there, to ask permission to use the ScriptX name, you might try their personal blog which is linked on their main page.
If you decide not to go the ScriptX route but still want to start the blog, let me know when it's up and running and I'll promote it, and hopefully others will also. I think that would be an amazing and helpful resources!

I saw that ScriptEconomist is no longer being updated, so do you know of any other economics blogs where I could ask a knowledgeable person about the feasibility of my fictional economic system?
So first - thank you so much for sending this in, because I just realized I hadn’t slid it down on the ScriptX Family page to the Archived section, woops! Fixed. Because you are correct, the blog is Archived now.Unfortunately I don’t know much about economics or economics blogs outside of that. All I can suggest is:1.) Peruse the archive of @scripteconomist to see if you can find something applicable, which may help anyway?
2.) Depending on the question, the folks at other ScriptX blogs such as @script-a-world or even @scriptsociology MIGHT be able to help? The reason I suggest Script-a-world is that you’re looking at this for worldbuilding purposes, and their blog is designed to help with making overall fictional worlds more plausible, so they might have some ideas depending on what you need that fictional economic system to do in-story.
The reason I suggest ScriptSociology, is that Sociology as a field includes studying complex aspects of human culture and how they impact groups of people within them, and while it’s not the same as full-on economics, it by necessity can definitely include the impact of economic changes or the consequences of some aspects of economic systems, which is honestly the most important part of working with an ‘economic system’ in a worldbuilding sense anyway, I would think. Examples of this include how poverty levels or class divisions might shake out in terms of large-scale effects on actual people (I think they had a post on how street gangs in America originally formed as a way to ‘protect’ neighborhoods that were mostly ethnic enclaves, which presumably had less consistent access to reliable/non-abusive law enforcement due to poverty and class division, for an example of what doesn’t LOOK like it includes economics but technically does? At least that’s how I recall the post, but it’s been a while and I don’t have time to hunt for it >_>), or - There’s also how economic prosperity or pressure influences where people move to or from; e.g. how most major cities have historically developed along a waterfront due to resource access and/or trade access (Los Angeles for instance could not possibly exist as far inland in a desert like it does, without the massive man-made infrastructure that was installed that draws water to the area; but NYC existed before modern plumbing was really a thing, and became one of the early trade hubs with Europe and elsewhere because it’s in a region that connects to the ocean and several rivers; Chicago is near major water sources and lies between many other places that it engages in trade with too, etc.). That could be a question posed to either blog, I think, though the perspectives on it and the depth of information will likely be different and it’s probably better-aimed at ScriptSociology in particular? At a guess.3.) You could try browsing the Economics tag or Worldbuilding tag on tumblr?4.) Finally, I will open this up as a question to our followers to see if they have suggestions? Remember to check the notes in case we have a viable suggestion given! Good luck with your worldbuilding!-Mod Vorpalgirl(Feeling generous? You can click here to Buy Me A Coffee!)

If you find the masterpost of scriptx people,c an you reblog it? I can't seem to find it. Thanks!
I found a masterpost.
It’s clearly not current, and even scriptmedical is archived (the blog I found it through).
Searching “script family” will find you more blogs.
But that should get you started for now.

I'd like to thank you for being the sole surviving member of the Script family 👍 so thanks, ur blog is great :)
Thank you :) I’m not quite the ‘sole surviving member’ though. This list is still pretty accurate (though obviously ScriptMedic is no longer active):

For the record I plan to stick around as long as I can.
